I really hate that she was wearing it. More than I can say. This smacks too much of those who insist that only Xians are the true Jews - it's called "Replacement Theology". Even if it's not that, it's pandering - it's certainly prostituting my religion to serve her ends. & I would say this if Hillary Clinton (my candidate!) was doing it. Then again, Clinton never would, which is just one of the reasons I would vote for her :-)

It's a mixed bag for me. On one hand, as a measure of solidarity, I think it's nice, politics and my hatred for her aside. Is anyone actually wearing the Star? The Right goes on and on about loving Israel, but do they wear any Jewish symbols? The Israeli flag even? And this isn't any old day. It's Jerusalem Day when we took the old city.

On the other hand, Palin likes to do it up big. Remember you could see her American Flag pin from the space shuttle.

On the other hand, I tend to doubt her sincerity overall and don't know if this is just another one of those times when she's pandering.

On the other hand, I'm not offended.

Supposedly she had a flag of Israel on her desk when she was mayor of Wasilla. I tend to be suspicious of non-Jews who make a big display of wearing obvious Judaic symbols. On the other hand, I want them to buy a bunch of bling from the Zionist Mall.

I'm both. I could totally wear that.

I'd love to get one for my Irish brother and Jewish sister-in-law. I think they'd get a kick out of it.

hehe She did, the flag in her office. I think, tho, that was while she was governor, not mayor (can't recall). I don't know if it was put up for the shot or always there though.

Some think they and only they are the troo Jews, based on what they profess to believe. They not only don Jewish symbols, they have tallits, artifacts from Jerusalem, celebrate some Jewish holidays like Passover, and of course brag publicly about all their Messianic Jewish friends.

On the other hand, I tend to doubt her sincerity overall and don't know if this is just another one of those times when she's pandering.

It's definitely not for me to be offended or not by some Christian's appropriation of Jewish symbols. But I know where that comes from, and find it to be pandering. I'm kind of surprised, though, that this is making the news, now. Palin wore the same bling when she visited the Western Wall [Link: bit.ly...] It's probably more than just a fashion accessory to her, but she sure does don it at, uh, interesting times.
